1. ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAM ( EEG)
Also called the brain wave test, electroencephalogram (EEG) measures the electrical activity of the brain. By analyzing this activity, called brain waves, specialists can diagnose brain disorders and provide better treatment options for patients. This procedure is safe for children and adults. This safe test can diagnose several conditions like Seizures, Epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, Psychosis etc.
An electrocardiogram also called an ECG, is a simple, painless test that records the heart's electrical activity. It helps to understand how the heart works. This test helps the doctor evaluate the patient’s cardiac condition, e.g. if there are any irregular heart rhythm.
3. ELECTROMYOGRAM (EMG) and NERVE CONDUCTION STUDIES
An electromyogram (EMG) measures the electrical activity of muscles at rest and during contraction. Nerve conduction studies measure how well and how fast the nerves can send electrical signals.Nerves control the muscles in the body with electrical signals called impulses. These impulses make the muscles react in specific ways.
4. Psychological Assessments
Manasa provides neuropsychological and psychological assessment for individuals in different areas like intelligence, personality, career interest, aptitude, neuropsychological functioning. Several clinical conditions like anxiety, ADHD, learning disability, autism, depression etc are also assessed and addressed. These evaluations provide in-depth information regarding cognitive, behavioral and social-emotional functioning in order to establish diagnosis and inform treatment planning.
5. ELECTROCONVULSIVE THERAPY (ECT)
is a brief medical procedure that involves applying short electrical bursts to the brain through external electrode pads on your head. These electrical bursts create a seizure, which has been shown to help relieve symptoms associated with different psychiatric conditions.
The nursing Home has ECT as one of the treatment modalities. The therapy is administered by experts. Consent is obtained and care givers are given pre and post ECT counseling.
6. THERAPY FOR DE ADDICTION
Substance abuse has become a major psychosocial problem. Manasa offers individualized treatment (medical and psychotherapy) programmes on Out-Patient or Inpatient basis depending on the need. De addiction therapy has several phases:
Most patients who are dependent on drugs or alcohol develop withdrawal symptoms (tremors, restlessness, poor sleep, seizures, etc) on reducing or stopping suddenly. Sometimes the withdrawal symptoms can be severe and pose risk to life also. The process to reduce or relieve withdrawal symptoms in drug addicted individuals is called detoxification.
Our De-Addiction program is a combination of intensive pharmacological and psychological therapy. The client is offered Individual, Group and Family therapy sessions. A joint assessment is done where Psychologists address various factors like stress-related concerns, family issues, social situations and Psychiatrists address the underlying psychiatric conditions like anxiety disorders, depression, Bipolar Disorders and personality issues.
The therapy sessions are based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Individualised sessions address the individual needs while Family Sessions are conducted to address specific concerns and also make the family a part of therapy.
At Manasa narco analysis is used for diagnostic purposes. Narco analysis is a method of psychological investigation in which the conscious or unconscious unwillingness of a subject to express memories or feelings is diminished by the use of a barbiturate drug. Psychotherapy is conducted while the patient is in a sleeplike state induced by barbiturates or other drugs, especially as a means of releasing repressed feelings or thoughts.
Psychotherapy is the practice of spending time with a trained professional to help diagnose and treat mental and emotional problems. During psychotherapy, you learn about your condition and your moods, feelings, thoughts and behaviors. Psychotherapy helps you learn how to take control of your life and respond to challenging situations with healthy coping skills.
There are many specific types of psychotherapy, each with its own approach. The type of psychotherapy that's right for you depends on your individual situation. At Manasa we offer a wide range of psychotherapeutic approaches inclusive of behaviour therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, rational emotive bahaviour therapy, play therapy, family and group therapy
